Plane Fire Closes Runways at Heathrow Airport

Two Boeing Dreamliner airplanes have run into difficulty in England, including one that caught on fire.

Officials at London's Heathrow Airport say the fire involved an empty Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner which was parked in a remote part of the airport.

Television images showed firefighters on the scene and the aircraft apparently sprayed with fire-retardant foam.

The incident caused Heathrow to shut down Friday for about one hour.

Ethiopian Airlines says it is investigating the cause of the fire.

Soon after that incident, Thomson Airways said one of its Dreamliner airplanes flying from Manchester, England to the U.S. state of Florida experienced what it called a "technical issue." It says the aircraft returned to Manchester Airport as a precautionary measure.

Shares in Boeing fell Friday with the news.

Boeing's Dreamliner jets had been grounded earlier this year amid concerns over battery meltdowns. In April, Ethiopian Airlines became the first carrier to resume flights with the passenger planes.
