Sri Lankan security forces have shot into a group of protesters at a demonstration to demand clean drinking water, killing one person and wounding more than a dozen.
Protesters in Weliweriya - 20 kilometers northeast of the capital, Colombo - say their drinking water supply has been contaminated by the chemical emissions from a factory.
Residents of the village told the Associated Press that the security forces also targeted journalists in Thursday's attack.
