Saudi Arabia has given a $100 million check to the United Nations to help in the global fight against terrorism.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday accepted the donation for the United Nations Counterterrorism Center. The center was launched in 2011 to tackle new security threats posed by terrorism.

The United States, Germany and Britain also have helped to finance the Counterterrorism Center.

The Saudi donation follows its giving $500 million to the U.N. effort helping Iraqis forced to flee the violence in their own country.
