Police in the eastern U.S. state of New Jersey say they are investigating a "suspicious" substance mailed to hotels near the site of this Sunday's Super Bowl — the U.S. National Football League championship game.
News reports Friday say the packages were sent to at least five hotels in the vicinity of MetLife Stadium, which is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation was also looking into the white powder, which some media outlets reported was found to be cornstarch.
This year's Super Bowl is a matchup between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. Every year, the game, the biggest sporting event in the United States, draws tens of thousands of fans to its host city.
Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters.
