Upheaval in Egypt

After 18 days of protests, Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, who ruled the country for 30 years, stepped down. The announcement of his resignation drew an immediate roar of cheers and honking automobile horns throughout the country. Now, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which represents the heads of the various branches of the armed forces, as well as the chief of staff and the minister of defense, has taken control of the country.
