Vietnam has begun two days of official mourning for wartime General Vo Nguyen Giap, who died last week at the age of 102.
Thousands of people, including family and high-ranking officials, viewed Giap's body as it lay in state Saturday in the capital of Hanoi.
Giap was lauded as a military genius for his guerrilla tactics, which defeated both French and American forces and ended the government of South Vietnam. Giap was revered second only to late revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh.
A state funeral will be held Sunday, after which Giap's body will be transported to his native Quang Binh province for burial.
