High Levels of Molecular Chlorine in Atmosphere Above Arctic Noted
Scientists, led by Greg Huey a professor in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology, recently studied the atmosphere above Barrow, Alaska, which is located within the Arctic Circle, and have discovered extraordinary levels of molecular chlorine in the air. Scientists are concerned that high levels of the highly reactive chemical will have a very strong influence on the atmospheric chemistry above the Arctic.
