This year’s theme, “The UN at 70 – A New Commitment to Action, urges the world body to double their efforts to meet current and future challenges in peace, security, development and human rights. They are expected to address a variety of global concerns including the Syrian civil war, the Islamic State insurgency, the European migrant crisis, climate change, and the Sustainable Development Goals, which benchmarks are hope to be met in the next 15 years.
