Scores Missing After Bangladesh Ferry Accident

by VOA News

Officials in central Bangladesh say scores of people are missing after a ferry carrying more than 100 passengers capsized Friday.

Authorities say at least 25 people were rescued from the overturned boat in a river in the Munshiganj district.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.

Bangladesh has a history of boating disasters because of its lax safety standards and frequent overloading of vessels.
