Obama to Award Medal of Honor to Army Veteran

U.S. President Barack Obama is awarding the nation's highest military award for valor, the Medal of Honor, to an Army veteran for actions after Taliban fighters attacked his remote outpost in Afghanistan.

Former Staff Sergeant Clinton Romesha is credited with leading a battle against hundreds of Taliban who attacked the 50-man Combat-Outpost Keating near the border with Pakistan.

Eight U.S. soldiers were killed in the October 2009 attack in Nuristan Province. Twenty-two soldiers were wounded, including Romesha.

He will be the fourth living Medal of Honor recipient for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan. Romesha had also been deployed to Iraq.
