US Expels Two Venezuelan Diplomats

The United States has expelled two Venezuelan diplomats in retaliation for Venezuela's expulsion of two American military attaches last week.

Washington wants to repair ties with Venezuela, but has made little progress since President Hugo Chavez's death.

U.S. officials say junior diplomats Orlando Jose Montanez Olivares and Victor Camacaro Mata left the United States on Sunday.

The Associated Press reports officials confirmed the expulsion on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Venezuelan officials have accused the United States of being responsible for President Chavez's cancer and appear to be seeking to rally anti-U.S. sentiment before an April election for a new leader.
