Russia Sends Mobile Hospital to Chile

Russia is sending doctors and medical supplies to Chile, as part of relief efforts to help Chileans recover from last month's devastating earthquake and a series of strong aftershocks.

A Russian official says two planes are being sent to Chile, carrying physicians, medicine and a mobile hospital.

Parts of Chile shook Thursday after getting hit by a magnitude 6.9 aftershock. The U.S. Geological Survey said the aftershock was centered in Chile's Libertador O'Higgins region, about 145 kilometers southwest of the capital, Santiago.

The shaking was felt by foreign dignitaries who had gathered in the city of Valparaiso for the inauguration of new Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.

It was one of the strongest aftershocks to strike Chile since an 8.8-magnitude earthquake in late February killed about 500 people.
