Cargo Plane Crash Kills 7 in Afghanistan

A civilian cargo plane has crashed at a U.S.-run airbase in Afghanistan, killing all seven people on board.

Officials say the plane went down shortly after takeoff Monday.

The Taliban immediately claimed responsibility for the crash at Bagram Air Field, but coalition forces said there were no reports of insurgent activity in the area just north of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

The coalition did not identify the victims, type of aircraft involved or the name of the company that owned it.

The crash came two days after four U.S. service members were killed when their surveillance aircraft in southern Afghanistan crashed due to bad weather.
