Officials in eastern Afghanistan say a bomb blast has wounded nine people, including at least five police officers.

Authorities say the explosion Wednesday in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, targeted security forces.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Taliban militants have been ramping up attacks on government forces lately, seeking to destabilize Afghanistan as more foreign troops prepare to draw down from the 12-year war.
