1 Wounded in US School Shooting; Suspect Dead

U.S. police say an 18-year-old Colorado student shot and wounded a schoolmate on Friday before taking his own life.

Police first said two students were wounded, but now say blood from the one victim splattered on a second student, who was not harmed. The wounded student, a girl, is in critical condition in a hospital.

Authorities say , the shooter, held a grudge against a teacher when he arrived at the school with a shotgun.

The shooting occurred not far from Columbine High School, where two students killed 13 classmates and staff before killing themselves in 1999.

Friday's shooting came one day before the first anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. In that attack, a gunman killed 20 children and six adults before taking his life.

The White House intends to honor the Newtown victims with a moment of silence on Saturday's anniversary
