Michelle Obama Turns 50

U.S. first lady Michelle Obama has turned 50 and will celebrate on Saturday with a birthday bash.

Mrs. Obama spent her birthday Friday out of sight, with no public appearances. She will, however, be the center of attention at a White House party.

Details of the event have been closely guarded, but guests say they have been told there will be dancing.

The first lady tweeted a picture of herself on Friday holding up a card from AARP, an organization that lobbies on behalf of people who are over 50 years old.

The first lady received an early birthday present from her husband, President Barack Obama -- time alone without the demands of children. Mrs. Obama remained for an extra week in the Pacific island state of Hawaii, where the family had a two-week vacation over the Christmas holiday.
