Spain Princess Testifies in Corruption Case

Spain's Princess Cristina testified Saturday in a corruption case that has deepened anger against the royal family.

It was the first time that a Spanish royal has been summoned in a criminal proceeding since the monarchy was restored in 1975 following the death of dictator Francisco Franco.

In a closed door session in a courthouse in Palma de Mallorca, Judge Jose Castro questioned the princess on suspected abuse of company funds from a real estate business she co-owned with her husband.

Castro is investigating her and her husband for alleged money laundering and using company funds to pay for household expenses, including lavish parties at their Barcelona mansion.
