Famous Pakistani Journalist Shot in Karachi

Police in Pakistan say gunmen have shot a famous Pakistani television anchor, the latest in a wave of attacks on journalists in the country.

Hamid Mir, a host for the private television channel Geo, was wounded in the attack in Karachi Saturday, but is expected to survive.

The gunmen were in a car and on motorcycles when they reportedly opened fire on Mir's car near the Karachi airport.

Geo News described the attack as a "targeted-shooting incident."

Police say Mir suffered three gunshot wounds to the stomach, leg and pelvic area.

Pakistan is one of the world's most dangerous countries for journalists, and this is not the first time Mir has faced attack.

In 2012, Geo says explosives were found under Mir's vehicle in Islamabad.
