A U.S. federal court has ruled against President Barack Obama and in favor of a Chinese-owned company that was stopped from building an off-shore wind farm near a U.S. Navy site.
The U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington decided Tuesday that the White House deprived the Ralls Corp. of its right to due process under the U.S. Constitution.
The three-judge panel ordered the White House to turn over any unclassified documents on why it barred Ralls from building the wind-powered electric generators off the coast off Oregon in the country’s northwest.
Obama gave the order in 2012 after a government panel said the project could violate U.S. national security.
Ralls sued, saying it was not given the chance to examine the evidence the panel apparently used to make its decision.
Lawyers calls the court's ruling unprecedented and say it could give more power to foreign companies who want to invest in the United States.
