Two small airplanes collided near the port of Los Angeles Friday. No survivors have been found.

The Associated Press reports two men ages 61 and 81 were aboard one plane. A 72-year-old woman was on the other aircraft. But the exact number of passengers is not known.

Coast Guard Captain Jennifer Williams said both planes had taken off from Torrance Airport and both pilots were experienced.

The Los Angeles Times says people aboard a private fishing boat alerted the U.S. Coast Guard they saw a plane fall into the water Friday afternoon.

Rescue workers on the scene found the wreckage of one plane, but not the other.

Authorities say at the time of the crash, air traffic controllers saw two planes collide on their radar.

Emergency crews are expected to search the ocean waters through the night.
