Recent census data show that the poverty rate in America is expected to rise to levels unseen in nearly half a century. Peter Edelman, Professor of Law at Georgetown University and author of “So Rich So Poor: Why it’s so Hard to End Poverty in America,” tells host Carol Castiel and VOA English News reporter Marissa Beale that the recession is partly to blame and says that more jobs, greater investments in education, better child care and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, among other measures, will help to combat the trend.
