Middle East Monitor: Demonstrations Turn Violent in Egypt

Police have fired tear gas at protesters in Egypt's northern city of Alexandria. Islamists called for mass rallies ahead of Saturday's second leg of voting on the proposed constitution. Liberal, secular and Christian groups fear the document will erode civil liberties because it increases the role of Islamic law and does not even mention women's rights.
