Labor organizations all over Bangladesh observed the historic May Day amid a state of emergency.

May Day was a government holiday in Bangladesh and President Iajuddin Ahmed and chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed issued separate messages to mark the day wishing all workers prosperity and happiness. Leaders of other political parties also felicitated the laborers on this occasion. Different colorful programs were held to mark the occasion.

Delivering his chief guest's speech at a discussion organized by the Labor and Manpower Ministry on May Day, Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed the chief advisor of the caretaker government in Bangladesh said to the industry owners in clear terms that they will have to ensure proper and hygienic work environment, stick to specified work hours, pay just wages and incentives in time.

He added that government is doing everything possible to uplift the conditions of the laborers.
