A hard-line Islamist party in Kuwait has asked for the expulsion of Bangladeshi workers from kuwait.

 An Islamist candidate running in next month's elections in Kuwait called Monday for the expulsion of tens of thousands of Bangladeshi workers, blaming them for a crime wave. Mohammad Hayef al-Mutairi , a hardline Islamist candidate.said in a statement that Bangladeshi workers represent a serious danger to the country's security and its noble values. He also said that the interior minister should issue an immediate and brave decision to expel Bangladeshi workers because they constitute a risk to the country.

Mutairi charged Bangladeshi workers were behind a wave of crimes that has hit the oil-rich emirate in recent years, including murders, abductions and prostitution. He said Bangladeshi workers had formed organized crime rings to carry out prostitution, abduction of housemaids, forgeries, robberies and other crimes.

Some 200,000 Bangladeshis work in Kuwait, mostly as cleaners and in low-paid jobs. Thousands of them have gone on strike complaining of nonpayment of salaries and inhumane working conditions. Bangladeshis have protested against this lopsided statement and said that statements of this type is harmful for Bangladesh-Kuwait relationship.

Bangladesh embassy has said that if Bangladeshis were doing something really bad, the law enforcement agencies in Kuwait could take necessary actions
