A writ petition was filed on Sunday challenging the legality of the Election Commission’s delimitation of 133 electoral constituencies redefining their territorial boundaries.
The High Court bench of Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Farid Ahmed will hear today the petition filed by Abdul Mannan, a former lawmaker of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Senior lawyer Khandaker Mahbubuddin Ahmad, a BNP stalwart, will move the petition.
Earlier, the court had set Sunday for the hearing on the petition but deferred it to Monday after deputy attorney general Razik-Al Jalil sought time for preparation.
In the writ petition, Mannan said that the commission on April 29 redrew boundaries of 133 electoral constituencies in violation of law and the constitution.
