The younger son of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has left the country to pursue medical treatment, just days after being temporarily released on parole. 

Arafat Koko Rahman traveled to Thailand on Saturday, where he is expected to receive treatment for respiratory and heart problems. 

Bangladeshi authorities released Rahman on Thursday for two months on the condition he would not contact anyone unconnected to his medical treatment. He and his mother were arrested last September on corruption charges. Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's other son, Tareque Rahman, was also detained on graft charges. He is expected to be given parole in a few days. 

Ms. Zia, the head of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, refused a similar deal to go abroad for medical treatment. But she has asked that her jailed sons be released.
