Indian government officials say six people, including children, were killed following clashes between Hindus and Muslims in southern India.

Police say rioters set fire to the home of a Muslim family on Sunday in the Vitoli Village of the Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh state, despite a curfew in the area.

The attack follows violence between Hindus and Muslims during a Hindu festival on Friday, when at least three people were killed.

Andhra Pradesh's chief minister K Jana reddy condemned the Sunday attack and ordered an investigation into the case.  Authorities also increased police presence in the area.

Relations between Hindus, who make up roughly 80 percent of India's population, and Muslims, who account for 15 percent, have been relatively peaceful in recent years. But there have been sporadic incidents of sectarian violence.
