Noorjahan Bose, a prominent social worker both in the USA
and Bangladesh , a forerunner of women’s rights anywhere has written an
autobiography in Bengali named Agun Mukhar Meye . The autobiography has
recently been published from Bangladesh .
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service she talks
about this book where she has frankly discussed how women are oppressed and
sexually harassed in Bangladeshi society. She recalls her own experience in the
‘40s where she herself was subjected to such subjugations.
Her accounts included religious extremists’ threat to her
life because being a Muslim woman she has married a Hindu man. She thinks after
all these years she still feels threatened by religious extremistsbut she is not afraid of such threats . If
she were, she would not have written this bold autobiography of hers.
