Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman killed in a coup in 1975.
The Chief State Counsel on Wednesday dismissed as ridiculous and a figment of fact the defense arguments that the August 15, 1975 carnage was no case of criminal conspiracy for murder but a plot of committing mutiny to change the then Mujib government.

Narrating the background in support of his contentions Anisul Huq said from the evidence on record as well as facts and circumstances of the case it was a "clear case of criminal conspiracy for murder".

He said the conspirators, both serving and dismissed army officers, after briefing their troops at night parade in Dhaka Cantonment, simultaneously carried out three operations on the fateful night.

The assailants swooped on the residences of Bangladesh  President Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni at Dhanmondi and Abdur Rab Serniabat at ministerial enclave in the capital and perpetrated a killing spree, he pointed out.
