| India Welcomes Pakistan's Offer to Open Up Kashmiri Border |

India has welcomed Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's offer to open up the Line of Control, allowing Indian Kashmiris to cross into Pakistan's portion destroyed by the October eighth earthquake and assist in reconstruction efforts.
The Foreign Ministry in New Delhi issued a statement on Tuesday saying this is in line with India's advocacy of greater movement across the divided region for relief work and closer people-to-people contacts.
Earlier, India sent more relief aid to Pakistan and lifted restrictions on Indian Kashmiris for two weeks to allow them to call Pakistan directly. New Delhi took away the privilege in 1990 because of the Islamic insurgency in Indian Kashmir, alleging that it is run from Pakistan, a charge denied by Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the United Nations World Food Program says almost half-a-million earthquake survivors in Pakistan have yet to receive relief supplies.
The U.N. statement came as President Musharraf appealed to the international community for more tents to shelter the homeless.
