Bangladeshi officials say the upcoming summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation or SAARC in Dhaka will focus on poverty reduction, economic cooperation and terrorism.

The officials say the two day meeting -- which begins on November 12 -- will bring together leaders of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The summit was originally scheduled for January, but was delayed after the devastating tsunami. It was rescheduled for February, but India withdrew citing the security situation in Bangladesh and the political crisis in Nepal. Under SAARC's charter, a summit cannot be held if the leader of a member country fails to attend.

The seven-nation grouping was created in 1985 to support economic and social development in South Asia.
