Bangladesh Government’s Energy Advisor Tapan Choudhury says chances for a quick fix for the ongoing power crisis is very slim.

But several small power plants are due to go into production around August next year and the situation might improve then he says.

Mr Choudhury made this comment at the Forum of Energy Reporters Bangladesh in Dhaka.

The current government treats the power and energy issues as a priority, he says. The existing power plants are in the process of updating.

Once that is done, an extra 200 megawatt electricity will be generated daily by June 2007, he adds.
