Bus Crash Kills at Least 10 in Eastern India

Police say at least 10 people have been killed after a bus plunged off a bridge onto railway tracks in eastern India.

Witnesses say the bus driver lost control after trying to overtake a vehicle Saturday in the city of Howrah in West Bengal state.Police say the bus crashed through railings on the bridge and fell nearly 15 meters onto railway tracks, disrupting train service.

At least 12 other passengers were injured in the crash.

Deadly road accidents are common in India because of poor driving habits, overloading and the poor condition of roads and vehicles.
