The National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources on Saturday embarked on a four-day Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar road march to mobilise public opinion against the government’s reported move to lease out off-shore blocks to international oil companies for hydrocarbon exploration.

The march began from Muktagan in the capital with a rally asking the government to refrain from entering into any agreement that would hand over control of national resources to the multinational companies.
Addressing the rally, Prof. Sirajul Islam Chowdhury lamented that successive governments have failed to safeguard and properly utilize the national resources.
The road march before making an overnight stopover at Comilla on Saturday, also stopped at Sonir Akhra, Kanchpur Bridge, Sonargaon bus stand and Chandina
