“Portrait of Jihad” probes into the attacks orchestrated by radical Islamic entities like Harkatul Jihad and Bangla Bhai. It sheds light on how they train, their source of funding and their close ties with the Jamaat-e-Islami Party. 

In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla, Filmmaker Shahriar Kabir discussed the context and subject matter of the film. He expressed his intention to expand the documentary and include more supporting information and facts. In his film he has interviewed several terrorists who divulge certain important information.

Shahriar Kabir, who is a human right activist and has been known as a prisoner of conscience,  said that Bangladesh  is historically a country of  communal harmony .  People in Bangladesh follow Islam which enshrines within itself love for humanity , peace and harmony.

However , he said that Jamaat-e-Islami , in the garb of being a democratic party , has got link with the  militant fundamentalists and they have been behind several terrorist attacks in Bangladesh . They are also involved in the persecution of the minority and of Muslims themselves who follow different sect . Shahriar says that he has a plan to make second part of the film  where he intends to portray regional and international links to terrorism in Bangladesh.
