Shoma Rahman is a
professional singer based in New York. She took music lessons since childhood
in classical and Nazrul songs. Currently she is experimenting with Bangla pop
music mixed with live English rap music. Younger audiences receive this kind of
variation with enthusiasm according to her. She grew up in Dhaka and studied
English literature there.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla she speaks about music background in her family and says that she got the inspiration from her mother initially.
As her mother
originally comes from Assam, she also sings Assamese songs. Shoma Rahman says
that she found music as the best way of expressing her own self.
