5 Killed in Passenger Plane Crash In Ukraine

At least five people were killed Wednesday when a passenger plane carrying 45 passengers crashed in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

Emergency officials say several other people were injured when the Soviet-designed AN-24 aircraft skidded past the runway in Donetsk.

The plane departed from the Black Sea port of Odessa earlier Wednesday. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash landing.

Most of the passengers likely were heading for the Wednesday night Champions League football match between Ukraine's Shakhtar and Borussia Dortmund.

The match opened with a minute of silence in memory of the dead.
