20 Dead in Blast at Sunni Mosque in Iraq

A blast at a Sunni mosque in central Iraq has killed at least 20 people and wounded dozens more.

Police say a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the mosque in the town of Wajaihiya while the imam was giving his Friday sermon.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack.

A recent surge in sectarian violence across Iraq has claimed at least 450 lives since the start of July. An estimated 2,700 have been killed so far this year.

The attack comes as outgoing Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wraps up a two-day visit to Iraq.

Mr. Ahmadinejad on Friday traveled to Najaf and Karbala in southern Iraq, where he visited one of the holiest Shiite Muslim shrines.
