2013 Grammy Awards Highlight Music's Biggest Acts

The music world has its biggest night of the year Sunday as the 55th annual Grammy Awards take place in Los Angeles.

Veteran musicians will grace the stage with some of music's rising stars for a series of performances in what is billed as the industry's largest awards show.

Topping the lists are R&B (rhythm and blues) singer Frank Ocean, British folk band Mumford & Sons, and the indie-pop group Fun, each of whom are nominated for six awards.

Fun, featuring singer Janelle Monae, scored one of the biggest hits of 2012 with "We Are Young," and took the prize for Record of the Year.

Newcomer Ocean has so far taken two of the six Grammies he was nominated for, including Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

He is nominated for Album of the Year along with Fun, Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys and Jack White.

The three-hour live show also will pay tribute to some of music's recently deceased stars, including Indian sitar legend Ravi Shankar, who is set to receive a posthumous lifetime achievement Grammy.

In an earlier, non-televised ceremony, Shankar won a Grammy award for Best World Album for his record "The Living Room Sessions." The award was accepted by his daughter Anoushka Shankar, who was nominated in the same category for her album "Traveller."

Other early winners included Gotye, who received two awards including Best Alternative Album and Jimmy Cliff for Best Reggae Album. Rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West won two awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
