California Firefighters Contain 56 Percent of Blaze

Fire crews in California have contained 56 percent of a wildfire that has burned more than 63,000 hectares of land north of Los Angeles.

Officials say more than 4,600 firefighters are working to contain the fire that has burned for nearly two weeks and has has killed two fireman and destroyed 76 homes.

California authorities launched a homicide investigation last week after the fire was ruled arson. Investigators have been searching for clues at the fire's origin near the mountain Angeles Crest Highway.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Authorities have already spent $43.5 million fighting the blaze.

The fire is expected to be fully contained on September 15.
