Afghan Presidential Palace Attacked

Explosions and gunfire have erupted outside of Afghanistan's presidential palace in the center of the capital.

Officials say reporters were gathering for an event when the eastern gate of the building in Kabul was attacked early Tuesday morning.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault, calling it a suicide bomb attack.

It was not immediately clear whether President Hamid Karzai was inside the building at the time.
