Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has again dismissed concerns about Iran's controversial nuclear program -- accusing Western countries of making, in his words, a "fuss" about the issue.
The United States and its allies say Tehran is using the program to develop nuclear weapons. But Mr. Ahmadinejad said it is Washington that has built such weapons and even used them, an apparent reference to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II.
The Iranian leader said Thursday that Tehran's enrichment of uranium is for civilian purposes, and that Western powers are "humiliating" themselves.
The United States, Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia are considering new U.N. sanctions against Iran for its failure to curtail sensitive nuclear activities. China says it prefers a diplomatic solution.
The sanctions could affect Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard Corps and the country's insurance and shipping sectors.
