Twenty-eight-year-old Michael Adebolajo appears at Westminster Magistrates Court for his first hearing, after he was charged Saturday with the May 22 murder of soldier Lee Rigby and the attempted murder of two police officers. He was released from a hospital Friday, after treatment for gunshot wounds inflicted by police who responded to the crime scene.
The other suspect, 22-year-old Michael Adebowale, will appear at the Old Bailey after being charged with murder and attempted murder last week following his hospital release.
Both suspects told witnesses at the crime scene they were acting in retaliation against British forces for the killing of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan. Three other suspects arrested last week are awaiting conspiracy charges.
