Russia Successfully Tests New Ballistic Missile

TEXT SIZE - +

Russia has successfully test launched its new ballistic missile from a nuclear submarine, after several previous failed attempts.

Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said Tuesday the latest underwater launch of the Bulava missile had met all parameters.

The missile was fired from Russia's northern White Sea and reached the Kura testing area on Kamchatka in the Pacific Ocean more than 5,500 kilometers away.

Military officials said that with four more successful launches, the Bulava could become part of Russia's military arsenal.
