Serbia War Crimes Court Convicts Ex-Paramilitaries

TEXT SIZE - +

Serbia's war crimes court has sentenced four former paramilitary members to 12 years in prison each for murdering a Croatian family in 1991.

The four were part of a Serbian force that seized parts of Croatia after it declared independence from the former Yugoslavia.

The court said Monday that the suspects accused the family of helping Croatian forces.

They were convicted of killing the mother and burning her body and then killing her husband and three children and throwing their bodies into a pit.
