Indoor Pollution China -Correction

TEXT SIZE - +

This week, the Voice of America reported from Beijing on an alleged study regarding childhood deaths in China related to indoor air pollution.  Chinese state media, citing the alleged study, had reported that more than two million Chinese children die each year from health problems related to indoor air pollution.

The VOA report, issued (broadcast) on Monday, said the study results were released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC.

On Tuesday, Chinese media quoted officials from the CDC as saying the reports were wrong, and that the CDC had released no such statistics.
