Taliban Captures 9 Civilians in Afghanistan

Officials in eastern Afghanistan say the Taliban has captured a group of at least nine civilians after their helicopter made an emergency landing in militant-controlled territory.

Turkey's foreign ministry confirmed eight Turks were among those on board the helicopter, which landed late Sunday amid bad weather in Logar province about 30 kilometers from the Pakistani border.

The aircraft had been traveling from Khost to the capital, Kabul. Other people on board included at least one Afghan and one Russian.

NATO says it is helping efforts to recover the helicopter.
