Teen Student Wounded in Shooting at Atlanta Middle School

A 14-year-old student was shot in the head Thursday in another U.S. school shooting, this time in Atlanta, Georgia.

Police say one suspect has been arrested. There were earlier reports that a teacher was also wounded at the shooting at Price Middle School. Other details, including the condition of the wounded student, were not immediately available.

The shooting comes as the U.S. Senate considers President Barack Obama's proposals for tighter gun laws. They include reviving the expired ban on military-style assault weapons and deeper background checks for gun buyers.

Gun violence has become a major issue in the United States since the December massacre of 20 young children and six staff members in a Connecticut elementary school by a mentally-deranged gunman.
