Three Men Guilty in Bolshoi Attack

A Russian court has sentenced Russian dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko to six years in a penal colony for orchestrating an acid attack on the artistic director of Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet.

The court in Moscow gave a 10-year sentence to Yuri Zarutsky, who has admitted to throwing acid in the face of director Sergei Filin on January 17, damaging his eyesight. Getaway car driver Andre Lipatov was sentenced to four years.

Dmitrichenko and his two two co-defendants were found guilty Tuesday of causing Filin "grievous bodily harm."

Filin's directorship was a coveted position in a company plagued for years by infighting.

Several artistic directors have left the Moscow-based ballet company in the past few years because of internal strife. Russian media reports have suggested that Dmitrichenko ordered the attack because he was upset his girlfriend, also a dancer with the company, was not getting starring roles.
