The U.S. Treasury Department has announced new sanctions on three Iran-based senior al-Qaida leaders accused of fundraising for the terrorist group.

Faisal Jassim Mohammed Al-Amri Amri Al Khalidi, Yisra Muhammad Ibrahim Bayumi and Abu Bakr Muhammad Muhammad Ghumayn were named by the Treasury as "specially designated global terrorists."

The statement described Khalidi as a senior al-Qaida official and former battalion commander with links to the Pakistani Taliban, Bayumi as a veteran member of the terror group reported to be involved in freeing al-Qaida members in Iran, and Ghumayn as a senior al-Qaida leader who has served financial, communications and logistic roles for the group.

These sanctions seize "all property subject to U.S. jurisdiction," as well as prohibit any U.S. citizen or U.S.-based company from engaging in business with those named.
